I'm Justin McCandless, and this is Markup Cartoons, a webcomic straight from the mind of an engineering student
born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. That'd be me. For more info about me, check out my

Go ahead! Feel free to post my cartons on your website, etc. As long as you're not trying to represent my work as yours, we're cool. If you want to use a cartoon in a printed publication, just let me know beforehand and I'm sure it'll be fine.
I would be happy to. All of my cartoons are created at 800x600 resolution, and currently they are displayed on the site at a slightly lower resolution. I may link them to their larger versions at some point, but for now just look for my email address a bit below this and shoot me a line for the 800x600 version.
Well, I'll be hanging out, then I'll have an idea, and then I'll bust out my phone and save it as a note. If I still think it's funny later when I've come to my senses and I'm sitting at my computer, then you might end up seeing it on the site. However, the first comics I ever drew were in my notebooks in high school, and a few of those inspired some of the digital ones on the site today.
My inspiration comes from a few different places. I've been reading cartoons and comics ever since I could read and webcomics ever since I knew they existed. Some of my biggest inspiration has come from Calvin and Hobbes , The Far Side , and xkcd . If you haven't heard of them, they're awesome, you should check 'em out.
Everything on this website was created on a computer running Ubuntu . The cartoons were all created using GIMP . The html and css for the website was written using Bluefish . And last but not least, everything was uploaded using gFTP . Thank you so much to all of the preceding, couldn't have done it with out you. Oh, and most importantly, thanks for being free.
